Welcome to Cologne !
Dear attendees,
on behalf of our Association and the local organizers,. Heike Goebel and Rainer Bolhe,
it is a great honor for me to welcome you to the VII Biennial Meeting of the Association for European Cardiovascular Pathology (AECVP) in Cologne, Germany, on the 23rd -24th September, 2016.
Once again, the meeting is gathering European Scientists working in the cardiovascular pathology field to address hot topics in Cardiovascular medicine.
These two days are organized in three symposia (Sudden Cardiac Death, Heart Failure and Transplantation, Aortic Valve Disease), key note lectures, oral and poster presentations.
This year the M.J. Davies Distinguished Achievement Award Lecture will be given by R.H. Anderson, one of the founding fathers of our association, focusing on major contributors to scientific knowledge in congenital heart diseases.
The key note lectures will be given by James Kirkpatrick on regenerative medicine and biomaterials and by Andreas Schober on microRNA in CV diseases.
Oral and posters presentations will represent a good opportunity for discussion favoring interaction between different experiences. The meeting will represent an important platform to foster collaborations among European Scientists, for ongoing and future projects, and to promote our discipline in the cardiovascular field.
There will be also time during the evening for enjoying Cologne and its attractions.
In the light of our best tradition, I hope that the meeting will be productive for all of you
Best wishes
Annalisa Angelini
President AECVP
